Business Cases and Presentations
In any large company, simply identifying the root cause of a problem does not fix the situation. Most solutions require resources manpower, money, parts and time. If you know what the problem is and how to fix it - but cannot persuade your decision makers to allocate the necessary resources, you cant fix the problem.
Sometimes you need to prepare a presentation that explains the reliability issue and what needs to be done to fix it. Other times, you must illustrate the cost and/or safety impact of the problem and quantify the risk of doing nothing. Occasionally, you need to do both of these things. You would be surprised at how much support you can get from senior management simply by presenting your issues in a brief, easy to understand format.

1. A general problem statement
2. A brief explanation of how the aircraft system works
3. A detailed explanation of the issues (using actual data from the analysis)
4. An impact discussion (quantification of safety and economic consequences)
5. A comparison with another fleet (if this is a fleet specific issue)
6. A discussion of what is needed to fix the problem
7. A listing of resources required to get the job done
8. Time for questions and a general discussion
